(a) What is a ball and socket joint?
(b) Which of the skull bones are movable?
(c) Why can our elbow not move backwards?
Ans. 4 (a) A Ball and socket joint is a joint that is formed when the rounded end of one bone fits into the socket-like cavity of another bone. Such a joint is present in our shoulder.
(b) In the skull, only the lower jaw bone is movable.
(c) Our elbows can’t move backwards because our elbows have hinge joints in them and hinge joint allows movement in one direction only.
